dot HIV sucht " evangelist" (sales & promotion) in Berlin

.hiv domains is a non-profit org (e.V.) from berlin which brings the
red ribbon to the DNS. They are the registrar of the new gLTD .hiv which
will be launched in summer.

They are a lovely group and backed by an impressive group of
angel investors and already have raised over 500k. The idea was created at
thjnk formerly kempertrautmann and Michael Trautmann is also on board as a
business angel.

70-80% of this money and the income generated from the domain sale will be
passed to projects fighting HIV/AIDS. The projects eligible are pre-select in
2014 by a group of experts and those affected. Starting 2015 the community
will be able to vote which projects should receive support. dotHIV went
great length to ensure that the company will always be in charge of the
funds and a single party cannot force the project into a direction which is
not in its original interest.

With the sunrise period for .hiv at hand they are now looking to expand
their team for an evangelist which will be working from the Berlin Office (in
Friedrichshein, near the Engelbecken) and be responsible for promoting the
.hiv gLTD. They need someone who understands the unique opportunity to work
for a non-profit org which uses internet technology to raise funds … I
personally believe, that this is a one time chance. This person should be a
networker with a strong and charming personality and ideally have a tech
background.

Auch wenn 70-80% der Umsätze von der Registry gespendet werden, verstehe ich den Sinn dieses Geschäftsmodells nicht, denn selbst wir man wohl kaum eine .hiv Domain brauchen. Wenn man selber HIV hat, wird man wohl kaum eine eigene Seite machen um seine Krankheit offenzulegen. Aber selbst, wenn man das vor hat, würde hier eine Facebook Seite auch reichen und man würde mit einer Facebook Seite viel mehr Leute als mit einer selbst erstellten .hiv Seite erreichen weil die Community bei Facebook schon kostenlos dabei ist.

Wenn man unbedingt Interesse hat ein Geld an eine HIV Organisation zu spenden, dann kann man das auch ohne .hiv Domain machen und muss die 20.30% nicht einer Registry in den Rachen schieben.

Die .hiv TLD ist für mich deshalb eine schwachsinnige TLD so wie die meisten anderen neuen TLDs auch. Ich sehe hier keine große Zukunft für diese TLD.
